A Friday Evening of Arts in Lake Worth Clay•Glass•Metal•Stone Cooperative Gallery Artist Reception Friday February19, 6 PM to 9 PM Marcia DiSylvester, Karen Windchild and Debra Gower will be featured artists at the February 19 gallery opening of ClayGlassMetalStone at 605 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth. The event will kick off a weekend of demonstrations by the artists in their specialties of clay and glass techniques. All of this will take place inside the gallery while the amazing Lake Worth Street Painting Festival takes place outside the gallery’s doors. Free refreshments will be offered to visitors entering the gallery for the demonstrations on those days. Delray artist Marcia DiSylvester is a master of her craft, turning out some of the most beautiful and unique teapots in the region. Her designs have been lauded by the hundreds of visitors to the gallery each month, causing many a bare shelf and a rush to create more. The unique shapes and styles of her functional work entwined with the her use of natural materials, including bamboos and woods, and her exquisite ventures into Raku firing, make her works among the most desirable and distinctive in the gallery. Her body of work also includes jewelry, high fired stoneware vessels and reproductions of decorative Native American pottery shards. On Friday, December 19, from 2PM – 4PM Marcia will be demonstrating the hand-building of teapots from clay. This will lead into the reception and party beginning at 6:00 PM. Delray artist Karen Windchild has been exhibiting her work at the most prestigious museum and craft shows throughout the nation. Her diverse body of work displayed in the gallery includes mammoth coil built seashells and ¾ life-sized figures with Native American patterning. Her latest creations evolved from a nine-month stay in Texas. There she found old, weathered fence posts that she is using to create boxed wall hangings, each depicting three dimensional landscapes and interiors. These are intricately woven with images of the fables of her imagination. One of the most prominent sculptural artists within the county, her work contains a compelling vibrancy of motion and meaning. She draws from ancient wisdoms and spirits, translating them into a dynamic contemporary art form. On Saturday, December 20, from 2PM-4PM Karen will be demonstrating the hand building of large sculptural figures from clay. Lake Worth artist Debra Gower is driven to create “Pureart” evident in her diverse talents. Her skill as a fine artist mirrors that of her commercial work, creating dynamic airbrush and colored pencil drawings and paintings that place a twist on reality. On her functional side is the custom stain glass both simple and complex designed and created to adorn a home, office or commercial space. Within the gallery Debra’s works include framed stain glass windows and cornices with the natural images pushing past the frames. Also available are stained glass boxes and decorative, light catching window pieces. On Sunday, February 21, from 2-4PM Debra will be demonstrating the art of stained glass creation. A wine tasting, courtesy of artist and wine broker Barbara Eden takes place at every opening. Clay•Glass•Metal•Stone Cooperative Gallery is sponsored by the Flamingo Clay Studio, a non-profit arts organization whose mission is to provide affordable studio and gallery space for three-dimensional artists.
