FAU Galleries Present Annual Juried Student Exhibition

The University Galleries and the department of visual arts and art history at Florida Atlantic University will present the annual Juried Student Art Exhibition from Friday, February 10 through Saturday, February 25 in the Ritter Art Gallery on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. An opening reception will take place on Thursday, February 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

The Juried Exhibition is open to all FAU students who may submit up to three works each. From the typical 80 to 100 students entering works, the final exhibition presents about one-third of the submitted works. This year’s jurors are Natalie Frank and Hilary Harkness, both highly successful artists whose works are currently featured in the exhibition “Figured Spaces: Selections from the John Morrissey Collection” in the Schmidt Center Gallery, Boca Raton Campus, through Saturday, February 11.

Natalie Frank earned her B.A. from Yale University and M.F.A. from Columbia University. Her work has been shown both nationally and internationally in galleries that include Mitchell-Innes & Nash, New York; National Academy Museum, New York; and Hezi Cohen Gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel.

Hilary Harkness received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and her M.F.A. from Yale University. Her works have been shown at the Mary Boone Gallery, New York; the Hauser & Wirth Colnaghi Gallery, London; and the Daniel Weinberg Gallery, Los Angeles.

The Ritter Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the Breezeway on the Boca Raton campus. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Fridays, from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. The University Galleries are closed Sundays and Mondays.

This exhibition is made possible in part by the FAU Student Government, Boca campus, through student activity fees. For further information call 561-297-2661.
