Since 1992, Alice Tan Ridley has been serenading subways with her incredible and powerful voice. Singing classics like "I Will Always Love You", "I Will Survive", "Billy Jean", "My Heart Will Go On" and many others, she stunned passengers and became known on a local level in New York City. It wasn’t until her appearance on America’s Got Talent that the nation was able to fall in love with her voice, just as she did to those on 14th Street Union Square, 34th Street Herald Square and, the famous 42nd Street Times Square.

However, before her prime time rise to fame, she had quite a few accomplishments under her belt. She sang ‘Amazing Grace’ in a film called "Rize” which showcased at the Sundance Film Festival. Her contribution to the\big screen continued with her performance in the film “Heights” with a soulful rendition of ‘America the Beautiful,’ and later winning an Emmy for her role in the documentary “Military Families.” Clearly, this is a woman of many talents. Her heart, however, remains in music.

Ridley has a gift of interpreting lyrics with such emotion and passion which is very rare nowadays in the music industry. The fact that she can bring an entire audience to their feet with tears in their eyes proves the intense emotion she brings out of everyone she sings to.

The ‘New York’s Subway Idol’ is often compared to legends like Etta James, Diana Ross and Tina Turner. Being equated to such famed and respected artists gives you an idea of just how powerful and unique Ridley’s voice really is. This Goddess of Soul will capture you with her sensual and smooth voice and her charming and sweet personality will make her unforgettable. Her sound will be alongside the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra, and their ability to redefine Jazz music and bring you back to the Golden Age of radio.

Lose yourself in Ridley’s renditions of classic ballads on Friday February 3rd, 2012 at the Palm Beach State College Eissey Campus Theater and Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at FAU’s very own Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium. This is one performance you will not want to miss! All shows start at 8 p.m. and Tickets range from $35-$55. Group leaders can call 561-278-7677.
