Acclaimed ‘cellist Alexei Romanenko returns to south Florida, this time with Duo partner, pianist Christine Yoshikawa. Greg Stepanich said of Romanenko’s September performance of Bach’s Cello Suites: “. . . His work reminds me of no one so much as Yo-Yo Ma: the same flawless intonation, smooth-as-fine-silk fingerwork, and a sense of sovereign, easy mastery over his instrument . . .” (Read the entire review at http://bit.ly/qOzlYW)
Romanenko and Yoshikawa will perform 20th century classics by Stravinsky, Schnittke, Fauré, Arvo Pärt and Richard Strauss, and will preview a recently completed work by Clare Shore on their 3:00 P.M., February 26th concert at Calvary United Methodist Church in downtown Lake Worth. The Duo's preview of their upcoming Canadian tour is the second of this season's Classical Concerts at Calvary and will again benefit the church's feeding ministries - The Way Cafe and Club Sandwich. You won’t find a better musical bargain this year - $5 plus a jar of peanut butter or can of veggies. Concertgoers park free at the church (first come, first served) and are encouraged to combine the concert with a stroll through Lake Worth's "Street Painting Festival", one block north.
