The National Council for Mental Wellbeing reported that 77 percent of U.S. counties are experiencing a severe shortage of mental health providers. COVID has dramatically increased the problem. This translates into significant hiring opportunities in the mental health and psychology professions.
Thus, with a growing national need for mental health professionals at all levels, Albizu University is hosting a discussion panel entitled “The Rising Demand for Mental Health Professionals” on what job seekers should to know about considering and preparing for a career as a provider who can make a difference.
A four-member panel of Albizu University psychology professors and mental health professionals convenes for a one-hour webinar, free and open to the public, to delve into various types of career opportunities, how they may have changed since the COVID pandemic and what a typical day is like for a therapist or counselor.
The discussion also will explore the challenge of recruiting a diverse workforce able to address the dynamics of patients from various demographic segments.
The webinar will be livestreamed via Zoom and via Facebook Live on Albizu University’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AlbizuMIA
