Join the PinkSlip Duo as they commemorate Veterans Day and honor our OLLI vets! Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" on the first anniversary of the end of World War I, Nov. 11, 1919. In 1926, Congress passed a resolution for an annual observance of it, and in 1938, Veterans Day became a national holiday. This special program begins with fascinating facts about the day's origin and continues with a tribute to today's veterans with the medley of armed services anthems, including that of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, while veterans of those branches stand to be acknowledged. PinkSlip will perform popular songs from World War II (Andrews Sisters, Doris Day), the Korean War (Patti Page, the Weavers), and the Vietnam era (The Animals, Buffalo Springfield, Marvin Gaye, Country Joe and the Fish, and more). Like all of PinkSlip's musical lectures, this program will have stimulating slides, beautiful harmony arrangements, and song lyrics for a sing-along. "The evening is always a pleasure and their preparation for and repartee during the program are so refreshing. Five stars!" - OLLI Patron

This event is also available virtually. This concert takes place 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm.
