Join Dr. Ralph Nurnberger as he examines the Scottish Duo in a special two-part series. Mary Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie are among the most iconic heroes in Scotland, remaining popular and revered figures in Scottish history even though neither ever achieved their objective, namely, to be the monarch in Britain.

Mary Stuart was six days old when her father, James V of Scotland, died. She inherited the throne and officially became Queen of Scotland at age 14. At seventeen, she also became Queen consort of France when her first husband, Francis, became King. A year after his death, she returned to Scotland, hoping to also become Queen of England. The next twenty years of her life were marked by political intrigues, international conspiracies, espionage, murders, personal dramas, and a lengthy rivalry with her cousin Queen Elizabeth of England. Nurnberger will explore her exciting story and share the recently discovered treasure trove of long-lost letters by Mary Queen of Scots found by a trio of amateur cryptologists who painstakingly worked to crack their code! This event is also available virtually.
