27TH ANNUAL  INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN UP

The City of Delray Beach and the Sandoway House invites the public to "Make a Difference by Volunteering" at the 27th Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup coordinated by Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful, Inc. in Palm Beach County.  In an effort to promote a cleaner and safer beach environment, the City of Delray Beach and the Sandoway House will participate in this worldwide campaign that enlists volunteers to collect trash and debris from our the Delray Beach Municipal Beach to ensure it remains a world class beach.

This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, from 8:00 am until 10:00 am, at the Sandoway House Nature Center, 142 South Ocean Boulevard.  Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend this free event and join in this global effort.  Supplies will be provided and participants are able to earn community service hours.

The International Coastal Clean Up is the world's largest one day volunteer event of its kind.  Last year, approximately 400,000 volunteers from over 100 countries took part in this effort, resulting in the collection of more than six (6) million pounds of trash.
