2011 Walking Tour to Reveal Architectural Splendors of Kings Road Estate Section

The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach will hold its annual walking tour on Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 at 2pm.

The fee to attend the tour is $50 per person.

Space is limited, so please call the Preservation Foundation to reserve at 561.832.0731.

This year’s area of focus will be the Kings Road area in the estate section of Palm Beach.  Before Kings Road existed, the 45,000 square foot Cielito Lindo property dominated the area, stretching from ocean to lake.  The property had been designed by Marion Sims Wyeth in 1927.  After World War II the property area was subdivided into 5 separate properties.  The main living room was demolished and in its place was put Kings Road, cutting straight through the original property.

The tour will begin at the offices of the Foundation.  There the Foundation’s Co-Director Janice Owens will give a presentation explaining the importance of the area and significant features members will see on the tour.  Each member will also be given a tour guide booklet which Owens has put together.  From there the tour group will be broken up into approximately four groups, each group lead by a member of the Preservation Foundation’s staff.  The four groups will then head over to Kings Road and tour the area individually.

The Preservation Foundation wishes to thank in advance David Ober and Sotheby’s for their generosity in sponsoring the 2011 Walking Tour.  A note of appreciation is extended to all those who have graciously agreed to open their properties to the tour.
