Palm Beach-based Wild About Wildlife, a fundraising and awareness initiative that supports the National Wildlife Refuge Association’s South Florida Urban Wildlife Refuge Project, hosted its third annual Summer Luncheon. The South Florida project runs programs meant to connect youth to nature and foster environmental stewardship. Guest speaker Deborah Pollack, a Palm Beach art historian and gallery owner, used material drawn from her archives, including her Florida Book Award-winning ’Florida Sculptors and Their Work: 1880–2020.’ She noted that the wildlife celebrated in the area’s public art is now the focus of active protection work. The luncheon also featured the presentation of attorney Rebecca Doane’s $20,000 sponsorship gift. Doane & Doane, PA, will be presenting sponsor of Wild About Wildlife’s next event, the Nature Renaissance Luncheon at 11 a.m. Oct. 12 at The Ben in downtown West Palm Beach. Richard Louv, author of ’Last Child in the Woods,’ is guest speaker. Dr. Denise Herzing, founder and research director of the Wild Dolphin Project, and Jennifer Diaz, vice president of education at the Everglades Foundation, were introduced as WAW’s 2027 Conservation Award honorees.
