THREE EAGLE SCOUTS

The Boy Scouts of America, Troop 321 of Boca Raton, chartered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, celebrates the advancement of three to Eagle Scout in one evening.

Boca Raton, FL – (October 27, 2015) – The rank of Eagle Scout is a distinguished honor earned by just the top 4% of registered members of The Boy Scouts of America. “This is the first triple-decker Eagle Scout Court of Honor this troop has had. It's a historic moment.” stated Scoutmaster Eugene Lehenbauer. Warren Muench has been a member of this troop for 26 years, and this is the first time he has seen this happen. Eagle Scouts William Tucker, John Stokoe, and Benjamin Whiting all received the prestigious award.

BSA Troop 321, hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The troop typically ranges from 13 to 20 boys, ages 11 to 18. Warren Muench states, “We have a really good committee with plenty of assistance.” Right now the troop has 14 leaders of men and women serving in various positions, from Scoutmaster to Committee Members. While the troop typically consists of Latter-Day Saint church members, they have also been joined by Scouts of other faiths, including Jews, Presbyterians, and Catholics. The troop meetings are held Tuesday evenings in the Boca Raton Chapel on Camino Real.

In attendance were two recipients of the Silver Beaver award, which is one of the highest honors bestowed upon adult leaders after years of distinguished service to Scouting. The first, Andy Buglione from the South Florida Council, is 88 years old and has been involved in Boy Scouts for 76 years. Since 1993 he has attended over 200 Eagle Scout Courts of Honor. The second is Kurtis Tucker, who has now seen four of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. All in all, fifteen Eagle Scouts participated in the award ceremony. The top 4% is not so uncommon here. Inspired by the evening's event, three more Scouts from Troop 321 are getting ready to soar as they work to complete their own Trail to Eagle!
