The works of A.E. ‘Beanie’ Backus and Florida’s Highwaymen, a group of African-American painters of the late 1950s and 1960s, will be on display Sept. 16-Nov. 19 in the Ritter Art Gallery at FAU. Backus taught some of those artists to paint.
