HIGHLAND BEACH — During her 12 years in Highland Beach, Rene Yucht enjoyed a retirement filled with music, bridge, canasta, mah-jongg, golf, tennis — and giving.
A member of the town’s Welcome Committee, she was appointed to its Cultural Board.
Mrs. Yacht died Sept. 27. She was 76 and lived in the Dalton Place condominium.
Beyond the town, she also volunteered at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, the Judaica Sound Archives at Florida Atlantic University and the Friends of Life Center at the University of Miami.
“I knew Rene for eight years,” said Highland Beach Mayor Jim Newill, “not only as a resident, but as a good friend. She was a very vibrant person who always brought out the good in everyone.”
Until her retirement, Mrs. Yucht was employed for 26 years as a law librarian in the state Superior Court of Delaware.
Born May 10, 1934, in Camden, N.J., she was named Harriet by her parents, but never liked the name and called herself Rene, a name she took legally at the age of 40.
Mrs. Yucht was a graduate of P.S. duPont High School in Wilmington, Del., and attended the University of Delaware until Nov. 8, 1953, when she married Joe Yucht.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Debbi, of Buffalo, N.Y.; Judy, of Lancaster, Va.; and Larry, of Deerfield Beach; and two grandchildren, Elana Lesse and Michael Yucht.
A memorial service was held Oct. 3 at Gutterman Warheit Memorial Chapel in Boca Raton. Donations in her memory may be made to Beth Ami Congregation of Palm Beach County Synagogue, 1401 N.W. Fourth Ave., Boca Raton, 33432.
