Manalapan: Town looks again at burying utilities

By Steve Plunkett

Manalapan is once again looking at whether to put electric, cable and telephone lines underground on the Point.

Mayor Kelly Gottlieb told commissioners she had learned that Gulf Stream was planning to bury its lines for about $16,000 per home, much less than the estimate
Florida Power & Light Co. gave when Manalapan first explored the option.

“It seems they have some new technology, and it’s not as much to do it,’’ Gottlieb said.

The mayor asked town staff to request a new estimate from FPL.
