Also included in Phase 1 of the project is restoration of wetlands at the site, now a turn-around for police cars on patrol.
Anzco Inc., based west of Boca Raton, submitted the winning low bid of $157,669. The next-lowest bid was $183,300. Palm Beach County, which owns the site, expects the project to be finished by early February.
The concrete wall will go on the south and west sides, while the front will get a post-and-rail fence.
The county and Highland Beach agreed in June that the park would not be built beyond the first phase for at least 10 years.
The Town Commission’s consent agenda for early November listed an item authorizing Mayor Jim Newill to sign an addendum to the stipulated agreement. The addendum fixed what Town Manager Dale Sugerman called five glitches, including a corrected effective date and contact information for the town.
