Former Miami Dolphins fullback Rob Konrad in September ended his short-lived journey through the criminal justice system on a charge of reckless driving by taking an eight-hour defensive driving course.
At a hearing on Sept. 17, his attorney Greg Rosenfeld told Palm Beach County Judge Ashley Zuckerman that the 49-year-old Ocean Ridge resident had satisfied the terms of the nonprosecution agreement he inked with state prosecutors.
Since Konrad completed the course and paid $100 for court costs, prosecutors dropped the reckless driving charge he faced in connection with a June 29 crash in Gulf Stream. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors also dismissed three traffic citations Konrad faced after police said he lost control of his Land Rover SUV while driving an estimated 80 mph on State Road A1A near the Ballantrae condominiums.
The vehicle crashed into several trees, a streetlight and a water valve before flipping over. Konrad was airlifted to the hospital.
Konrad, who works as a financial adviser and in March paid $4.7 million for a 5,800-square-foot house on Harbour Drive South, played fullback for the Dolphins from 1999 to 2004.
