Residential trash collection rates will fall as of Oct. 1 after commissioners voted to
reduce them about 3 percent. Despite the rate cut, many commercial users will
see costs go up, because the Solid Waste Authority raised disposal charges,
according to a memo from City Manager David Harden to commissioners.
Waste Management will lower total monthly fees for residential service to $12.62 per
unit from $13.02 previously. Total fees for rear-door pickup will drop to
$22.14 from $22.87.
Commercial fees vary more widely than residential, but a commercial user with a two-yard
collection once a week, for example, will rise to a monthly charge of $93.60
