Delray Beach: News Briefs

Storm water study planned; rate increase approved —  Delray Beach is getting set to update its Stormwater Master Plan, with the City Commission approving a $300,000 grant agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management at its Aug. 11 meeting to study the city’s storm water infrastructure.

The grant will be combined with $200,000 from the city to pay for the project. The updated plan will assess the condition and capacity of the city’s storm water system, identify vulnerabilities and prioritize future capital improvement projects.

At its Aug. 18 meeting, the commission approved a 4.8% increase in the city’s storm water assessment fee. The owner of a home between 2,000 and 5,000 square feet will see a $7.17 annual increase, bringing the total to $155.39 for the year.
