Ocean Ridge resident Dr. Gene Abelson, his family and friends were boating near Bird Island at the Boynton Inlet in early May when they encountered a manatee. After the humans spent time petting and swimming alongside the mammal - which is an endangered species - the family dog Altaj, came in for a closer inspection and ended up sharing a kiss.
