The Center for Gifted and Talented Youth (CGTY), which meets in the Sandoway House in east Delray Beach, celebrated the end of their first year in operation.
The students finished the school year with a picnic and a hovercraft competition which the students constructed in their latest project at the Center. Although the parents were skeptical, the students were confident that the hovercrafts would perform; and perform they did!! Operating on an outdoor hockey rink provided just the right surface to hover and have a blast!
CGTY is a learning center that services middle school age homeschool students. Their focus is instilling a love of learning while providing a curriculum that is challenging and flexible. Many of the students travel and need flexibility in the curriculum and schedules to accommodate demands outside the classroom.
As a part of the curriculum, the CGTY students participated in a Model United Nations conference at the UN in New York City, wrote and published a book about the United Nations, and started a global project to help provide purified water and nutrition to undeveloped regions throughout the world.
