The George Bush Boulevard Bridge will close to motorists and pedestrians sometime
late in July for four months while the county makes repairs, according to Palm
Beach County Bridge Superintendent Barry Meve. The bridge closing isn’t expected to interrupt boat traffic.
An exact closing date, the cost and other details will be available later, closer
to when the county will repair some of the bridge’s pilings, add pilings and
install a sidewalk railing, Meve said.
Motorists will be detoured eight blocks south to the Atlantic Avenue Bridge during the
George Bush Boulevard Bridge’s closing.
Meve said he expected the bridge would remain closed in the event of a hurricane during that time.
