Boynton Beach police secure the scene at the Riverwalk Plaza construction site along the Intracoastal Waterway near the southeast corner of Woolbright Road and Federal Highway on March 22. Initial reports were that a crane malfunctioned, but a later news release by the Boynton Beach Police Department said 'concrete collapsed' and two construction workers were found dead under the debris. The dead were identified as Jeremias Mendez, 32, and Eduardo Cruz-Moran, 25, both of West Palm Beach. The BBPD, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office, is conducting the death investigations. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the construction site accident that resulted in the two deaths. Jerry Lower/The Coastal Star

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved in this tragedy. After what we saw at Surfside, we've come to fear and mistrust older buildings, but brand new construction? All of that concrete is supposed to be inspected as it's poured. May we see the building inspectors concrete test files please?
