Boynton Beach: News Brief

City going to rollback? — Boynton Beach property owners will receive preliminary tax bills showing the city plans to keep its tax rate the same — but city commissioners expect the final figure they set in September will reach the lower rollback rate.

Commissioners have said they plan to approve the rollback rate — basically a no-new-taxes rate — that amounts to a 4.1% drop from the current tax rate and would mean a drop of just under $100 in city taxes for a home with a taxable value of $300,000.

The city plans to offset some of that impact on city spending by raising its fire assessment fee $25 for a single-family home, bringing it to $170.

The city’s tentative tax rate is $7.75 for each $1,000 of taxable value. The rollback rate is $7.4257 per $1,000.
