The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a water quality advisory for three beaches in Boca Raton and one in Delray Beach.
Water tests on Oct. 19 showed South Inlet Park, Red Reef Park and Spanish River Park in Boca and Sandoway Park in Delray do not meet the state's recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria, a warning sign of fecal contamination and potential pathogen presence.
Boca Raton said it added its South Beach to the no-swim advisory list, even though water there was not tested, "out of an abundance of caution."
The Health Department advises against any water-related activities at these locations due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. Test results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches
