Visitors to Red Reef Park were thrilled to be in the midst of pelicans diving for small fish near the shore in April. The pelicans, some local and some migrating through on their way north, were not bothered by the excited audience of beachgoers taking photos and videos with their phones. One lifeguard said he had not witnessed anything like this in his decade of working on the beach. Similar aerial shows were witnessed all along the South County coastline.
