Water Treatment system maintenance

On Thursday, December 1, 2011 at approximately 4:00 AM, the Highland Beach Water Treatment system will undergo a scheduled maintenance, which will require the opening of the Drinking Water Interconnect with the City of Delray Beach.  While this will only be temporary, the water will have added ammonia with chlorine for disinfection purposes.    While water will remain drinkable, anyone using home kidney dialysis machines or treating water for tropical fish should change treatment accordingly to neutralize the high content of ammonia.  We encourage customers who may be affected by this change to seek professional advice.    We anticipate the maintenance will be completed by the  late afternoon.  We will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available and when we have returned to using the Town’s water system.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but this periodic maintenance is performed to keep our drinking water system clean and safe.  We strive to give you the highest quality drinking water possible. Should you have any questions, comments or concerns on this change in the water treatment process, please contact the Water Plant at 561-243-2084.
