The Delray Beach Jaycess hosted the Mark Gerretson Memorial 17th Annual Fishing Tournament on August 13th. Anglers from all over registered 46 boats for this fishing extravaganza!

Mystery Fish Winner: 6.0 lb triple tail to David Tandy on the “Get Sum’” - $430

Lady Angler Division: 30.4 lb wahoo to Stacey Dival on the “Classic” -$200

Jr. Angler Division: 3.8 lb triple tail to Nicolas Sarmousakis on the “Perpetuel Mo Cean” -$200

Family Fun Fish: Team “Tuppen’s” -$200

Prizes valued over $10,000 were raffled off during the Captains Meeting at Delray Beach Elks Club and at the weigh-in and awards ceremony at Veterans Park.

Proceeds of $15,000 will benefit Delray Beach Citizens for Delray Beach Police Holiday Toy Drive and Kids and Cops programs. Kids and Cops programs include: Delray Parks and Recreation Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Scholarships for Atlantic High School Graduates, Literacy programs for area elementary schools, teen karate class, Delray Rocks Football, Adopt A Class programs, Free summer baseball camp and more.

Presenting sponsor once again was Merrill Lynch. Other sponsors include: Printers Choice, Delray Beach Elks Lodge, Spodak Dental, Tuppen’s Marine, West Marine, J. Heffernan, Searcy Denny Scarola Barnhart and Shipley, and all the wonderful local businesses and residents who kindly donated money, services and raffle prizes. If not for them, the committee members, and many hard working volunteers, this event would not be such a huge success! Next year’s event is scheduled for August 11th 2012.
