Share the Light, a Gala Reception and Concert

First Community Event to Be Held at New Hyatt Place Boca Raton

Boca Raton, FL (December 1, 2016)--The Harry & Celia Litwak Chabad Center of East Boca (chabadbocabeaches.com) will hold the Share the Light gala reception and concert on Monday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the soon to open Hyatt Place Hotel, 100 East Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton. Share the Light will be the first community event held at the new downtown property.

Boca Raton Mayor Susan Haynie and Palm Beach County Commissioner Steven L. Abrams will present three outstanding Boca Raton residents with Lamplighter Awards.  The recipients will be Miami Heat Announcer, Eric Reid; former President of Farmland Dairies, Marc Goldman; and TV Producer and on air personality Arlene Herson.

“From its very founding over 200 years ago, Chabad has been dedicated to Sharing the Light--the light of G-d, Torah and the Soul,” said Rabbi Ruvi New of Chabad.  “From ignorance to hatred, darkness takes on many forms and each of us in our own way must Share the Light. We are proud to be honoring three exemplars of Lamplighters in our community.“

Share the Light chair is Mitch Kirschner with Sheri Farbish serving as the event co-ordinator.  David and Nadine Berkowitz are the major underwriters of the event.

Eric Reid is the lone remaining original member of the Miami HEAT broadcasting team and is in his 28th season of calling the action for the HEAT. Reid has broadcast over 2,000 regular season HEAT games during the franchise’s 28 seasons, having joined the organization just prior to the team’s inaugural season in 1988-89. This season is his 39thconsecutive year broadcasting basketball and his 25th doing the play-by-play for the HEAT. Reid will describe the action for all preseason, regular season and postseason games carried on Sun Sports. He also serves as a host for Fox Sports Sun’s Emmy award-winning Inside the HEAT series. Reid has won Emmy Awards for his play-by-play work in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Marc Goldman, who has been an active supporter of Chabad of East Boca for the past decade, is the former PresidentNew Jersey’s Farmland Dairies and was responsible for numerous industry developments. Marc is on the advisory board of the Jerusalem based Aish HaTorah and is a board member of the Republican Jewish Coalition.  He was appointed by President Bush to the U.S. Holocaust Museum Council in Washington D.C., and was the recipient of the First Annual Crain’s New York Business All Stars.  He also received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the 2016 King David Award from The Jewish Heritage Commission.

Arlene Herson is the producer and host of the award winning cable television program, “The Arlene Herson Show,” which features personal in-depth interviews with nationally known personalities.  Previously, Arlene was a panelist on “Florida Forum” on National Public Radio.  President George W. Bush appointed Arlene to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council, the governing body of the Holocaust Museum.  She has also served as National Chairman of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Legacy of Light Society.  Arlene was an interviewer for Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation; videotaping firsthand testimonies of Holocaust Survivors.
