Dedication of the new garden took place on December 5
(Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) - Devonshire at PGA National residents Carol Teichman and Polly Sherk are the masterminds behind the newest addition at the community; a brand new herb garden. The garden features a variety of herbs, flowers, and fruit trees as well as walking paths throughout. The new garden was dedicated at the community on Friday, December 5.
Devonshire’s Carol Teichman moved to the community just this year and she brought with her a very experienced green thumb! Previously, Teichman had served as the president of the Palm Beach Garden Club for seven years. Teichman, along with her neighbor at Devonshire, Polly Sherk, coordinated the placement and planting of a new herb garden at the community. Sherk is a member of the resident council, as well as a member of the culinary committee on campus. The garden has been designed to provide a variety of herbs and fruits, assisting Devonshire’s chefs and culinary team with preparing fresh and healthy meals.
Throughout the garden, one may find dill, basil, rosemary, parsley, tarragon, chives, mint, tomatoes, radishes, marigolds, nasturtiums, aloe, and Florida lavender, as well as a variety of fruit-bearing trees. While the residents will assist with caring for the garden, much of the regular maintenance will be tended to by one of Devonshire’s dedicated groundskeepers.
