Since coming to this country some 38 years ago, I have never quite understood why the American is for always trying to destroy his history.
Whilst I like Bob Currie’s design for a pavilion on the beach, why demolish the one my partner and I designed 24 years ago? Its design is based on the old refuge house that stood on the beach for many years. Even the detail of the refuge balcony rail is used as part of the Delray Historical Society logo.
With a little maintenance work, the present pavilion is good for many years to come.
The little existing pavilion is used a lot and is very popular, and I feel that there is really a need for a second pavilion.  So why not leave the existing and, either up the beach or down, put the new one? Does that not make sense?
Kindest regards to all the folks of Delray.
