Inaugural Harbor Lights Classic Draws 120 Attendees to Support Children’s Harbor

PEMBROKE PINES, FL  (December 6, 2024)The inaugural Harbor Lights Golf Classic was a resounding success on Monday, October 28, at Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, with 120 attendees participating in the event. The event featured cocktails and light bites, offering a festive atmosphere as guests “teed off” on the club’s pristine 18-hole, par-71 course, recently renovated by the legendary golfer Raymond Floyd. All proceeds from the event directly benefited Children’s Harbor, a nationally accredited child welfare organization where funds will support the nonprofit’s mission to strengthen families while providing safe shelter and resources to teens in foster care, helping them grow into healthy, educated, and productive adults.

As participants enjoyed playing for a great cause, they experienced the newly renovated course that features Celebration grass on the tees and fairways amongst other aesthetic additions. The Children’s Harbor team and local volunteers were actively involved throughout the day, providing support to players, while creating an engaging and educational atmosphere for everyone in attendance.

Whether you lent your expertise to the golf committee, seized the opportunity to sponsor, or simply joined us for an incredible day on the infamous Grande Oaks Golf course, your support played a vital role in our mission,” said Children’s Harbor President and CEO Tiffani Dhooge. “Your generosity and dedication to Children’s Harbor is truly inspiring, and we cannot thank you enough for being part of this journey. Every swing, every conversation, and every act of kindness contributed to the success of this event.” She adds, “We look forward to seeing you again next year as we continue to make a difference in the teens and young adults we serve. Thank you for being a part of this special day!”.

With sponsorships sold out, all the support shown on this day truly highlights the power of the community coming together to create meaningful change. Children’s Harbor’s main campus, in Pembroke Pines, provides a supportive family environment for teenagers in foster care and their younger siblings. The family support services program prevents kids from coming into foster care by providing free in-home counseling and support to underserved families in the community.

The event was made possible by the generous sponsors who contributed. Hospitality Sponsors Bauer Gutierrez & Borbon was joined by Birdie Sponsors Knights of Columbus Council 12240 INC., Scoremax Tutoring, Par Sponsors Alarm.com, M.A. Construction Group LLC and Miller Construction Company. About Children’s Harbor

Established in 1996, Children’s Harbor is a nationally accredited child welfare organization with a mission to help strengthen families who are struggling in our community, while providing safe shelter and support to teens in foster care so that they may grow into healthy, educated and productive adults. With the belief that children should feel safe, that family is worth fighting for and that cycles can be broken, Children’s Harbor provides a harbor of hope and healing for children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse.  The main campus in Pembroke Pines provides a supportive family environment for teenagers in foster care and their younger siblings. The family support services program prevents kids from coming into foster care by providing free in-home counseling and support to families who are struggling in the community. Additionally, Brown’s Harbor is a supportive housing community dedicated to serving young adults, aged 18-23, who have aged out of the foster care system.  These young adults are provided with affordable housing and the wrap-around support and independent living programs necessary to help them overcome their trauma and navigate through the early stages of adulthood.
