I want to thank Editor Mary Kate Leming and her publisher husband for starting The Coastal Star. I canceled my 31-year-old subscription to The Palm Beach Post last week because there is hardly any relevent news left in it for me.Fair disclosure act: I worked at The Post (as did Mary Kate), and at its sister paper, The Palm Beach Daily News, for more than 30 years before I took the company's "voluntary" buyout a year ago. It saddens me to see how news coverage and staff have shrunk since then. What used to be the finest newspaper in South Florida has disappeared. Fini. -30-When I have a question on a topic that is not covered in The Post, 10 times out of 10 I now find the answer in The Coastal Star. To its great credit, the paper is also literate, factual and stylish. So, my hometown newspaper is now The Coastal Star, which I pick up at the Boynton Beach library, or I can take a nice bike ride over the Ocean Avenue bridge and pick up the paper at the deli in Ocean Ridge, by the surf shop. We'd have no news here if it weren't for the Coastal Star. Thank you!
