Sunday, I went to walk the dogs at the Tri-County Humane Society. I have been volunteering there for about 15 years. Even though sometimes life gets in the way of taking the time to walk the dogs, I always think of them and try to help at least by making a donation on a regular basis. Helping the animals at the shelter is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. It is amazing how taking a walk with these cute pups makes your day a bit brighter. They have so much love to give to complete strangers, imagine the love that they can give to their adoptive family. These animals have had a tough time. They know what being hungry and being abused means. They have lost it all, but still have their willingness to survive, give love and unconditional loyalty to anyone willing to scratch their belly, throw a ball or just walk them. Currently, they have many of the animals they rescued from Oklahoma at the Tri-County Humane Society. They are so cute and loving! Please, please, if you are thinking of getting a family pet, try going to your local shelter first, you will be glad you did. If you are not looking to get a pet at this time, you can still help by volunteering your time at the shelter, becoming a foster care family, or donating items they need. Whatever you can do will help. Thanks to all the animal lovers out there! Mayra Stern http://www.BenAndMayraStern.com
