This year the City of Boynton Beach Arts Commission encourages artists
to submit public art designed to enliven the Ocean Avenue district
connecting the Boynton Harbor Marina to Seacrest Boulevard. The artwork
can depict the theme "Coastal Life" and vitalize the Avenue in between
the new projects that are under construction by the Community
Redevelopment Agency. The artwork can relate to the Amphitheater
Intracoastal Mangrove Estuary Public Art Project, the Boynton Harbor
Marina, Boynton Beach's history, the Intracoastal Waterway, Boynton's
close proximity to the Gulf Stream or our rich marine industry and
cultural heritage. The artwork should hold up to the outdoor Florida
environment for the year long display. The artists may consider more
than one artwork site or create a site-specific installation that
addresses this theme. This is a perfect program for professional artists
to gain public art experience. 10 total Avenue sites can accommodate
artworks up to 15' x 6' x 10' (large pads) and 10' x 4' x 6' (small
pads.)
Selection and Installation Schedule:
Each selected artist will receive $1,000.00 per artwork selected to
cover delivery and installation of the artwork. You, the artist, will be
responsible for the delivery, installation and loan of the artwork. The
City provides property insurance for the artwork on display. Your work,
if selected, will be publicly displayed on lighted pedestals and
included in the promotion, advertising and marketing of the year long
event.
