Well-known for their works in arts and healing, Brazilian Voices deliver a concert of familiar songs intended to soothe and inspire in the Abdo New River Room on Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Featuring award-winning female singers, light percussion and guitar, Brazilian Voices will present a program of Bossa Nova favorites such as The Girl from Ipanema, Summer Samba (Samba de verão), and Mas que Nada, as well as American classics, Fly Me to the Moon, Isn’t She Lovely, and Happy, along with medleys of popular Brazilian and American songs with a soft samba sound.

Performing each year at the Annual Family Café in Orlando, a summit for persons with disabilities and their families, Brazilian Voices are among the leading providers of music in healthcare settings in our region.

General admission is $10 until the week of the show and then $15. Lap tickets for children 12 months and under are available for $5. Buy tickets online at BrowardCenter.org, by phone at 954.462.0222 or in person at the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office.

This performance is intended to create a welcoming and supportive environment for children and adults on the autism spectrum as well as for individuals with other sensitivity issues or developmental disabilities. Slight adjustments are made to the production including reduced sound levels, no flashing or strobe lights and minimal special effects. As an added bonus, Brazilian Voices will distribute safe musical gift items to the audience, including egg-shaped shakers with which the audience will play and sing along to.

To provide additional comfort for attendees and their families, an area adjacent to the theater is designated as a quiet room with specially trained volunteers to provide audience support. Patrons may bring their own headphones, fidgets and other calming items into the theater or borrow these items at the theater. Ticket buyers will receive an email prior to the performance with a link to a character guide and short video about attending the theater.

The Broward Center’s sensory-inclusive programming is made possible through the generous support of the Taft Foundation with special thanks to UM-NSU CARD for their in-kind support.
