If you are between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health, you are eligible to be screened and join the worldwide registry for patients in need. All it takes to find out if you are a match is a simple swab from the inside of your cheek.

Every Year, 10,000 patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, other cancers and genetic disorders need a marrow transplant but have no donor match in their family. These patients must rely on a complete stranger to save their life and volunteer donor registries to find their lifesaving matches.

Headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation is a leading, international public bone marrow and blood stem cell registry. Gift of Life facilitates transplants for patients in need via a network of volunteer donors that the Organization has been building for over 20 years. To date, Gift of Life has a growing registry of more than 230,00 donors and has facilitated over 2,600 transplants to date.

Through Gift of Life, Walk for Life raises awareness about the need to increase the number of donors in the worldwide registry so that more matches can be found for patients in need. All funds raised at the event are used to underwrite the $60 laboratory cost associated with adding each new donor test kit to the registry. To date, Walk for Life has sponsored over 3,200 new donors and found matches for 36 patients in need. Gift of Life is a 501(c) (3) and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
