The Boynton Beach Historical Society welcomes you to a FREE presentation on Monday, Sept 19, 2016 at the Boynton Beach City Library in the Program Room.  We hold our Meet & Greet from 6:30-7p; and the program from 7-8p.

This month's program will be given by Patrick A. Martin, P.E., Director of Surface Water Permitting and Engineering, Lake Worth Drainage District and he will discuss "Lake Worth Drainage District:  100 Year History."

The Lake Worth Drainage District has a rich history with the agricultural community. The establishment of the Lake Worth Drainage District in 1915 provided water management to drain lands for the migration of inhabitants but also revealed fruitful lands for food production. Though the agricultural production of early settlers was just enough to feed themselves, it marked the beginning of a booming industry that would grow into a billion dollar economy and ultimately support a staggering population growth.

SAVE THE DATES for our next two programs also at the Library:  Oct 17, Nov 14
